Philips Hue wrong power?

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

It's not going to be an elegant solution.

For step up transformers there aren't very many trustworthy units as most are very generic but you will need a lamp holder rated for 240V and a proper plug on the end.

I have the Phillips hue starter kit that I bought in Europe and now I am in the US and my lights dont work. I have tested them and the lights dont turn on but the bridge works fine. Is there anyway that I could change the power of the socket so that I could use my lights again? Is there like an in-socket power converter of some kind that I could buy? Are there any solutions to this problem, as I have contacted Phillips directly and they left me hanging. Thanks in advance!

Are you referring the the bulbs themselves where you need to adapt it to an Edison screw?

No, I already have adapters for them, they just dont turn on at all. I am curious if there is a way to change the power so that they would work.

Are the lights designed for dual voltage or have a range from 120V-240V? If not you are somewhat out of luck unless you get a transformer for the lights and plug them into say a side table lamp.

It seems that some hue products aimed at the European market will only work at 220v, while others will work with both 110v and 220v. According to this reddit

I'm in the UK and my kit is a mixture of dual voltage and local 220v.

My LivingWhite dimmers are 220-240v only

My LivingWhite bulbs are 220-240v only

My LivingColor Gen 2 Conic is 100-240v

My LivingColor Gen 3 Iris (which is the same as the Friends of hue iris) is 100-240v

My Hue Lamps are 220-240v only

My Hue bridge is 100-240v

My Hue Tap doesn't connect to power

The lights only specify to work with 240 so only in europe. You mentioned a transformer, can you recommend any reliable cheap one?
