So, I just tried to turn on my computer and for some odd reason it will not boot from my SSD. I had just been using it earlier in the day but shut it down when I went to go do some other stuff. When I powered it back on is POST'ed but then when it would have normally showed the windows loading screen it come up with a blinking cursor like you would see in a command prompt (although I can type nothing here). Then after about thirty seconds the screen changes and says to select the proper boot device or insert boot media. I tried many things to try and fix it including turning it off and unplugging it for a while, reseating the SSD, and going to the boot menu to make sure it is booting from the SSD. The SSD I am using is the ADATA SP550 120GB. I know that this is not the highest quality SSD, but I have had it for less than a year. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is my SSD truly dead.

For those of you who are wondering, all of my data is not lost as long as my mechanical hard drive is still running. The SSD only held my programs and windows.

EDIT: I just tried using a different SATA cable to connect the SSD to the computer and it booted just fine. It must have been the inexpensive cables that I bought. If you are reading this then thanks for taking the time to do so but I figured it on my own.

Well it may not help your actual cause at all... but when I recommended upgrading to SSDs in the deep-freeze library machines, my boss ordered 20 of those same ADATA SP550 120Gb drives...

Out of those 20, 2 were dead upon arrival. Now you have me worried that they may not last too long :o (for the currently working ones)

I can only wait and see from this point on. If I could have swayed my boss to the much more expensive Samsung 850's... I would have. And I totally recommend the samsung ssd's for your own personal use, I have 3 of them personally and they work wonderfully. @Space2867

Could be a windows update. Had it recently with a fresh install, and worked fine until after 2-3 reboots then the boot error. Powered it on the next and sudfdenly all works again. Since Windows 10 has beens destroyin raid partitions in the past and also cause boot issues. It could be a update being the cause.
