Need some help deciding

Hey guys and gals, I am currently on the look out for a new laptop I've been using my current one for the past 4 years and it's finally coming to its end the screen keeps giving out at times and I am also in the need of a more powerful machine. I am currently a junior college engineering student. (horrible time to be in need of a new laptop) So I'm trying to keep it under $1000 I don't need anything to high end but I also don't want a machine that will begin to show signs of wear by the end of the year. I'm looking for something thin/light since I'll be carrying it around with me all the time, but I also need a little horse power I wouldn't mind an i5 with a 960m. I don't plan on gaming much since I have my own rig at home. Any one have any suggestions. I like the MSI ghost pro so that can serve as a good reference.

Probably something like the Y720 or second-hand Y700. The Dell 7567 is fine, IF you can get the model with the FHD IPS screen. Which is available. Just nowhere in EMEA region.
