Flex Memory Mode Performance

Hi, I recently purchased a ram stick of wrong capacity so I'm running a 8gb and 4gb ram stick together of the same brand same speed same everything. I suppose it is running in flex mode as I have 12 gb total ram, what i really want to know is if flex mode will affect PERFORMANCE in any way, any help would be much appreciated as I can't seem to find any information on this.
