Windows 10 automatically installing 376.53 Driver FIX

You may have noticed if you were running any driver except the current 378.49 or the hotfix 378.57 that windows 10 automatically installed 376.53 over the last few days.

I am sure that I am not the only person that this highly offended.

Here is the solution:

1) Download DDU "Display Driver Uninstaller"
http://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-v17053-released

Create a folder and name it DDU

Extract the files into the newly created folder

2) Download the windows Show/Hide Driver troubleshooter

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-windows-10

3) Open start Menu, Type "msconfig"

Hit Enter

Click the boot tab

Click the "SafeMode" Check box

Click Apply, Click Ok.

It will ask you to restart into safe mode.

4) Open DDU once you are inside Safe Mode

Click Clean and restart

5)Install whichever driver you wanted.

376.33 Works well for me so I will use that.

6) Once you display driver is installed double click on the "wushowhide" file that you previsouly downloaded.

Click Next

Scroll to the bottom and click on the appropriate Nvidia check box, Click Next.

Click Close.

7) Run Windows Update to verify it is no doing this intrusive behavior.

I noticed this as well but my solution was a bit simpler than yours.

I just rolled back the driver by uninstalling the current NVidia driver and reinstalled the older one. No issues since.

The fact that it is happening at all when they previously said they would not update drivers that were not running on a generic driver is ridiculous.
