Seeing if I can get a way with 1 8 GB dimm to the OS there's quite literally no difference between one stick of 8 and two sticks of 4. Posted February 10, 2017 yeah it's ok.. I'm also running on windows 10 pro 64-bit with 1 stick of 8GB RAM.. Because my PC was pre-build and I don't know what to upgrade yet.. so I just chose to get a stick of RAM.. and it runs perfectly fine. Posted February 10, 2017 There's nothing physically stopping you from using 1 stick. it's just common practice to use pairs. using paired memory sticks allows for some performance enhancement technology like Dual channel memory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-channel_memory_architecture#Dual-channel_architecture However, it's not a requirement.
