How-To install: Android Kit Kat on Nexus 4

There has been much commotion regarding the whole Android Kit Kat on the Nexus 4 device, Google hasn't officially released the version but you can download the ROM from Paranoid and install it your self, follow these steps and you should be able to run Android kit kat on your Nexus 4:

 

  1. We highly recommend you Back up your old ROM. The version provided can be considered “pre-alpha” and could cause problems.
  2. Install CWM recovery (you can download it here)
  3. Transfer the Kit Kat 4.4 ROM to your Android device and reboot
  4. Boot into recovery mode (Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.) 
  5. Wipe the /data and /system partition of your Android device (by selecting the Advanced Wipe  option)
  6. Now you can proceed to install the ROM. Navigate to the Android Kit Kat 4.4 ROM file.
  7. Select “install zip from sd card” and choose the appropriate file
  8. Reboot and you’re done!
