Well, i always wanted to stay away from this, cause when i first got my pc, im going to be honest, i thought it was easy, but for a 12 year old it wasn't, especially since the only knowledge i had was the one from a minecraft youtuber who only showed his pc after he had built it. Anyways, i think it's time for me to overclock, I have a 980 ti,  i7-4790k, and a corsair h100i. Idk if i should only overclock my cpu for now, but how would i go to do that

CPU - i7-4790k

GPU - MSI 980 Ti

Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Memory - 32 GB DDR3

Storage - 3.4 TB

on only air cooling, don't  overclock your GPU, but with the aio cooler on the cpu that should be good. Can you not find any guides for your cpu?

Well your saying something about air cooling for my cpu,but i have a all in one water cooling for my cpu, and that's the only water cooling for it, and the thing is idk if i even want to overclock in the first place, and idk if there's a bunch of variables go into it,  like how much ram you got and stuff

Go into your BIOS (if you don't know how I'd recommend you learn a little more about overclocking before attempting it) and you'll see something along the lines of "voltage" and "multiplier". Set the maximum voltage to 1.30V and if you're motherboard has "adaptive voltage" use it. Setting the multiplier is generally trial and error, generally i7-4790k has a normal overclock of 4.4-4.8GHz from the benchmarks I've seen.

The 4.8GHz benchmarks for games have gotten ~10-25FPS boost, but you should really decide if you actually need that boost because overclocking isn't always worth it.

See that's what i meant by not knowing if i should overclock, i don't need it, but if it's going to make my pc gaming better, then i guess i should, also my mobo is an msi gaming 5

Don't need it? Don't do it. It's rather annoying to do, imo, and it'll have very little payoff if you're just using it for games such as Minecraft.
