Wait, what?

I think i already tried using those to power the 950 but they didn't fit, so i didn't bothered trying to use them on the new one. (I think im using those to power the 1080, but i plugged the 6pin to the adapter and then the adapter to the gpu)

You can hook the 2 pin section into the 6 pin one, making it an 8 pin connector. Yes, it'll take a bit of force to push it in.

Hi everyone, can i use cablemod's dual 8 pin cable to power my gpu? or is there a compatibility issue?

In case i shouldn't be asking this here, or someone else already asked this, is anyone kind enough to tell me where should i ask\ is the post?

Some background for the curious, a few months ago, i upgraded from a 950 to a gigabyte's xtreme gaming 1080, at the moment i didn't knew that it uses 2 8 pin connectors, and my psu doesn't come with a PCIe 8pin, it comes with 2 6pin or something like that,, so i have to use adapters to power my gpu, but the 1080 only has 1, so im currently using the 950's adapter as well and, while it works, i want to sell the 950 so i can upgrade something, but i cant sell the 950 when one of the cables that is required to use it isn't in the package.

And for the even more curious, its a 950 FTW from EVGA

EVGA GQ 650 or something along those lines, but cablemod already has my psu in the compatibility list, im mostly concerned about the gpu not being compatible with dual 8pin

You have a really good PSU, Are you sure it didn't come with dual 8pin or dual 6+2 pin cables?

As for the bad idea, it's generally not very good to use adapters when dealing with high power devices such as high end graphics cards.

Yeah, i followed linus's advice, spent like 30% of my budget in the PSU xD

Im 90%  sure it didn't come with dual 8 pin nor dual 6+2, but ill recheck once i get back home.

I want to buy the full cable, not an adapter...

and if i misunderstood, well, another reason to buy the dual 8pin, right? xD

And i'm pretty sure it doesn't :c

But once i get home i'll see whether or not it comes with one q:

Dude, check this out http://www.evga.com/products/Product.aspx?pn=210-GQ-0650-V1. Specs --> connector quantity. Either you have a different PSU, or you got one with missing pieces or you threw the cables away. As simple as that.

That psu definitely has 2 x 6+2 pcie connectors. According to the spec in JG review it does, along with 2 x 6 pin.
