So at my job our security department that streams 100+ security cameras has been running off of the Comcast gateway. I have been meaning to get a router in place and change the gateway to bridge mode for some time. They utilize 150mbps most of the time and I would like something that can handle this type of traffic. The stations are all wired and the router will be in our server room so wifi speed is not necessary. I'm in the USA and have no budget realistically but price to performance is definitely key. Some additional features I would like is built a built in VPN server and support for DDNS. Thank you!

Does it require wireless capabilities?  There are many routers that have this capability.  With the amount of bandwidth and what you're trying to run, you may want to look at an enterprise grade solution.

So we bought a Cisco router but it doesn't have a gui only cli so we returned it. I've been looking at Asus honestly.

Which model Cisco did you get?  Even though several Cisco routers don't have a GUI interface, they can be pretty solid in function.  Especially at enterprise grade.

If you're now looking at getting an ASUS, I'm guessing you're looking at having a router with wireless capabilities.  However, they aren't considered enterprise grade.  They work fabulous in most consumer settings, but with the bandwidth you're pulling and function with the cameras, you might see some performance issues.  Not that it won't work, but it's sort of like using a Chevy S10 to plow large city streets on snow days.

Pulling them off your gateway is a very smart move, though.  That's a potential failure point that you don't actually have control over, especially if you ever decide to change Service Providers.

So the idea is that us being tier 2 and 3 can manage the system but if our tier 1 is there while something goes down, we don't want to have to rely on them using the cli. It sounds petty I know but it's just the reality. I forget the model (this was about a year ago) but could tomato or pfsense be an option? I have older machines laying around and could definitely repurpose them.

No it doesn't.
