I've got the Asus PG348Q (3440x1440 100hz). I was watching Linus' video where he put that optical Thunderbolt cable through the wall to his monitor (which appeared to be the same one). But I'm not ready to drop $800 on cables and hubs yet. I've got a server rack that I would love to throw my gaming PC in, and it's been a year since that video was made, I can't find much new info. Is everything still basically the same? I see that Nvidia Gamestream can do 4k @ 60hz now, but I don't even know if that can function in the way I want.

Basically just asking if there is any way I can put my gaming PC in my server rack and stream locally over gigabit LAN at 3440x1440 @ 100hz.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. This is kind of what I figured.

My problem with the wires, is I've got a bit of a longer run, so I would need a longer cable, more money. I have no problem spending the money, but then I read on some of the Amazon reviews and discussion on forums that the cables have a somewhat significant chance of failing. I'm currently wiring my entire house for ethernet, behind the drywall, through studs, the right way. I don't want to do all that and have a $400 cable fail a year later. CAT6 is reliable for the most part. I'll start experimenting with streaming to different computers to see what I can do. Hopefully I can find something capable of streaming 3440x1440@100hz, I'm not too optimistic about that though.

Thanks again!
