I need some help and tips

Hi, I was looking for some advice choosing a psu and I've come across 2 that caught my attention

 

Cooler Master G550M and the Cooler Master V550

 

Both are semi-modular and I have no idea wich one to choose

A lot of people on this forum have PSU tier lists. One will probably answer this, but another thing is if you need 550W. Can you send a PCPP link to your build as you might be able to save a couple of bucks if you don't really need 550W

I disagree. It is far-fetched that you can find a high tier PSU under 500-550W. But the V series is a tier one PSU, so go with that.

That is true. But there's a few bucks difference in 550 and 500, which could save him those $5 for a snack while building it. I don't know, but there might be a 500W model of those above. They are really nice PSU's, you're right

When I got my CX550M it was only $4.49 more expensive than EVGA 500B, which is a low tier PSU, so just skip the Cheetos and save yourself the calories (and money, of course)

So you think the V series is more consistent for my build? 550W is more than enough right?

Didn't I just say it was a tier one PSU lmao? Most tier 3 PSUs run continuous as advertised.... you'll be fine.

Tier list here:

According to the list you should take the  v550. You will know that is high quality and should last for years.

Allthough it is plenty for your setup it might still be a good one to pick. A small (but no serious) problem with lower wattage PSU is that you have less and sometimes also shorter cables. You might miss certain PCIe connectors for GPU what requires some adapter cabels then to work. Currently I find 500-650 watt range a nice sweetspot in general: it has most of the times all that you need, decent length and reasonable price while still having enough headroom.

And you think 550w is enough to overclock the gpu a bit?

Yes, you would easily be fine with a good 450W PSU.

Jup, even a high end system with the x99 platform and a 1080 can run on that with OC.
