Projector fan speed

So I live at roughly 9000-10,000 feet (Above sea level). Should I run my projector in high altitude mode? Its louder than at non high altitude mode (or should i say hhhiiiigggghhhh (420 Blaze It #Colorado)). Will the bulb last longer? Is there any way I can make it quieter?
