Cant get sound!

I need help. I had all my components for 3 years now and has ran fine. I recently moved and when I did took my pc apart and moved just the components and left the case. Just rebuild it and reformatted and installed all the drivers but the one thing I cant get is sound. I have the asus xonar essence stx and the proper drivers and I cant get sound. All my playback settings seam to be right but there is something I'm not getting. My pc reconises the sound card and say its running fine. Please help. thanks

Did you change the version of windows? Normally it would say that it is not compatible but I remember I had issues with a external sound card and had to wait for drivers to be updated to windows 8.1 before I could use it even though it would let me install them.
