Ive been working on my first build off and on but come down to the same question do i get a gtx 1070 or just a 1060. my reasoning that leans me toward a 1060 is mostly money and that i would have to cheap out and some parts to afford it and if that would slow down my performance. the other reasons are looks(want to stick to a white theme)its hard to find certain color parts when buying cheap and i want to get parts that will last years down the road. The max for my budget is 1100 but even thats pushing it since i still need to get peripherals. planning on a getting a 144hz monitor. This is my build:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QWhN2R

Thank you for your help.

a 1060 is good for 1080p at 144hz, though it wont hit 144fps on some games without lowering some settings. as long as you're hitting above 60fps then its fine, 144hz would be good just for the smoothness of it in games or just web browsing and such.

I would say if you dont leverage the 144 hertz in gaming its just kinda not worth it to spend so much money on monitor, right?

This is what I would do, 480 has more vram (not a massive problem at 1080P) and is getting faster with drivers, get windows from g2a/kinguin

Take note, that's an i7 and better PSU. Threads/cores are becoming the trend for games especially at 1080P where more emphasis is on the CPU. After market cooler not really needed for non k but theres room in your budget

Not really, as you still have the head room between 60 and 144hz giving smoother gameplay

You do have a point...

But still i think its not really worth it especially when you dont lower settings and considering how much a 144 hertz monitor costs

1080P 144hz aren't too bad. If you OP is planning 1440P, he really should be looking at 1070/1080 for good numbers

1080p 144hz arent even that expensive compared to 1440p 144hz monitors... so its alright.
