Mic + Noisegator

I'm trying to use noisegator to activate my mic, only when i speak. But it doesnt seem to work outside of the application itself. I want it to work for my recordings, because I have a lot of backround noise that i dont want present while I'm not talking. does anyone know how to make it work in this way that i described?

PC Specs: CPU- AMD Ryzen 7 1800x @3800mhz, GPU- MSI GeForce RTX 2070

@~1925 Mhz, RAM- 32 Gb  DDR4 @ 2400 Mhz, PSU- 500 W EVGA 80+ bronze, Motherboard- MSI x399 AM4
