Hi guys,

I want to be able to cast what I'm watching to my Chromecast, even when I'm on a VPN.

I've thought up a solution that sounds too simple.

I have an old HP workstation (some duo core and 2gb ddr), with 2 gigabit LAN cards. I simply put that PC between my incoming internet line and my router. Then have that pc connect to a vpn whenever I want via teamviewer or what so ever.

Everything  connected to the router would (I assume) also go through the same VPN that old workstation is connected to. Therefor making it possible to use a chromecast while connected to a VPN.

How wrong am I and would that old workstation slow down my internet speed in any way?

I don't think you are too far off. I think the old workstation should work fine for what you are trying to do.

Ok, did a first test.

Somehow it doesn't work.
Internet connection is shared. With Tunnelbear turned off, everything works. When I turn on Tunnelbear, everything connected to the 'server' can't get internet. The server's internet connection still works of course. What could be the problem?
