In need of some help for choosing a monitor.

R3ep3r

As the title says, I am confused about the very large range of monitors on today's market.

I am looking for a new monitor, an upgrade from my 17" LCD(right now). And I am planning on going 1080p on a 24 inch or 1440p on a 27. The price varies in my country a lot. There's a big difference between these two. Like 250$ the 1440p and 150-200 the 1080p.

I do own an: AMD Athlon 880k BE(4ghz), 8gb DDR3, GT430(at the moment, but I am looking to buy a GTX1050 Ti OC 4GB from Gigabyte before the monitor upgrade. Will a 1440p run smooth on my PC(with the 1050ti ofcourse). Will it be capable of reaching 60fps no matter the graphics settings? If not.. should I go with a 1080p on 24 or 1080p on 27?

Give me please some ideas and pros and cons for these monitors.

The 1440p is this one: http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/gl2706pq

I've found two 1080p one IPS and the other TN:

IPS: http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-e2417h-monitor/pd

TN: https://www.alzashop.com/24-acer-gf246bmipx-gaming-d4626756.htm#alternativy

Each one of them use Display port. Even though it's a little bit expensive, I've heard that display port is superior to HDMI and that's why I am looking for a monitor with that feature.

Please, take a look over these three monitors and tell me which one should I get?

And if all of them suck, give me a better one.

Hi,

you're better off with 1080p monitor with a GTX1050Ti. You won't be able to tell the difference between HDMI and DisplayPort, so you don't need to worry about that.

The TN one is not available on Alza by the way.

Czech this out, is it inside your budget?: https://www.alzashop.com/24-lg-24mb37py-d4249250.htm?o=1

1440p isn't worth it with a 1050ti. You'll get a better experience on 1080p. Both those monitors are fine but the ones that catch my eye are the Acer 227hqlbi, the Dell SE2216HV. Check them out and see if they are available where you are

If you're in the UK, this is a great deal atm - use the money you save on the monitor to buy a 470 to take advantage of the monitors freesync.

Sadly I am from Romania and the prices in my country suck as much as my actual graphics card.

I have found a 24" Acer with 1ms response time and TN panel for 150$ and at the same price (at sale at the moment) A Dell, the same size as the Acer, but it has 8ms response time and comes with an IPS panel.

Or I could go for a 24" AOC, 1ms, TN panel, but without display port for 125$. (Dell and Acer both come with display port)

Does that display port really matters or should I go with that AOC?
