Recently, my main custom-built PC's motherboard died. The repair cost was greater than the PC itself, so I sprang for a new one. A few days ago, the new one came in and immediately the graphics card or mobo got shorted. Is this a problem with my outlets or power?

Roses are red, violets are blue. I enjoy foruming on LinusTechTips too!

What PSU do you have?

Doesn't matter. New one is a pre built, too lazy to build one again.

it could be a problem with your power outlet, but a good PSU should protect against it. it probably is bad luck tbh. or did you notice lights dimming or brightening while other appliances behaving weirdly when it failed? it could be some massive appliance turning on or something such as a dryer or washing machine.
