Gparted problems How to make unallocated space

Okay, so I personally love linux. But I wanna change to windows mainly due to the fact that I do not need linux anymore.

I have a windows 7 disc right now. Now, whenever I try to boot from disc from BIOS, it will not boot from it.

My laptop just boots to Linux mint instead. I do wonder though...

I had this crazy idea of using the "setup.exe" file in the disc when you open it to start up instead.

Now, It says I need 686 MB of space on my linux partition to continue. I am new to gparted and need help.

Does anyone know how I can shrink my Linux partition with gparted???

Any help would be appreciated.

some laptops refuse to boot from CD/DVD when they have a working OS drive, if you want to test if that theory is the case, take out the hard drive and see if you can boot into the CD/DVD then.

if it then doesnt boot into the installer, it's most likely an issue with either other bios settings, or a bad disk.

Yea. It is weird though because I had downloaded mint on not long ago at all. The laptop originally came with windows 8.1. Either way... Do you know any way of shrinking my Linux partition with Gparted?

In Gparted you can drag the Linux partition but I guess leave an extra GB from the smallest size so that it shouldn't ask for more space? Then wipe the new space that was made and install the OS you wish to that. When you boot windows you should be shown the 2 partitions, one will be the Linux OS and one should be your un-formatted space.
