Mobo:  ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO

CPU: I7-7700k

Ram: CORSAIR DOMINATOR Platinum Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3000MHz

GPU:   EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti x2

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W G2

Monitor:   Acer XB280HK

So I am having display....issues.  If I plug my monitor into either GPU my monitor says No Signal.....I know the monitor is ok because when I turn it on I get the cute Acer logo before it tells me it isn't going to show me anything else.  I have also tried plugging in to the displayport port on the mobo.  Same result.  As further proof that monitor is not the issue I have tried a spare monitor with DVI and HDMI port on the GPUs and the HDMI on the mobo....same result every single time.  So I am kind of stumped....what do I try?

How long do you let it sit? Do you have speakers on to listen for windows starting?

Not sure speakers are plugged in....will do that next.  Also the mobo, cpu and memory are new so I am not 100% that windows is totally happy at the moment so since I have rearranged its brain I am not sure I would get to the happy windows sound.

Then you need to cycle the inputs incase its waiting as the new CPU screen. Any faults on the mobo certain fan rpm changes? Would prolly be best to have the cards out and start the machine on igpu until you know what's going on.

Is unplugging the power enough (the cards are water cooled and pulling them out is no the easiest) my last attempts have been with no power to cards and the displayport plugged into the mobo....the cpu is watercooled too so that should be ok too.

No because the board will still regodnize them being installed. Just pull them out just enough unless it's headlined.

Ok....pulled out GPUs....even tried a BiOS update.  Still no video.  I can tell that the monitor can sorta tell the computer is there because every time I turn things on it wakes up to tell me there is no signal.  Honestly at this point (though it makes no sense to me why this would work but I am out of ideas) should I start unplugging ram and sata devices?

Could go down to one stick of ram. Clear cmos, leave the cards out and see where that gets you.

On the one monitor that isn't possible...there is only the one input.

Well turning it off and back on would do that.

Must mean something different, as it doesn't have ide. So it should have a troubling shooting section of what may be the cause right?

I had a rather similar issue with the same monitor and and a 970. It wouldn't happen all the time and occasionally messing with the DP cable on the monitor side fixed it. Or turning it on and off repeatedly. The computer would be on but nothing shown on screen and would turn off as soon as I pressed the on/off switch (rather than taking a couple seconds), it wouldn't power my mouse and keyboard too. The 970 works fine on HDMI though (different monitor) and the new card I got works fine on the Acer monitor with a different DP cable. I know that seems a bit hap hazard but I only just realised that I had only fixed it upon installing new GPU. I read somewhere that the 9xx series had issues with display port, can't remember where I read it though.

So in short, with me, it was either 2 cheap display port cables DODNT work and the third slightly pricier one worked or it was the 970 which works fine of HDMI.
