Recently I've been having this problem with my GPU. So, the problem is that every time I check out my GPU it shows as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter as shown below. My GPU is a Galaxy GT 520 1 GB DDR3 soon to upgrade to an MSI GTX 660 2GB DRR5 but I have to wait until I get this problem fixed! 

Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon x4 860k

Mobo: Gigabyte F2A68HM-H

GPU: Galaxy GT 520 1 GB DDR3

RAM: 4GB DDR3

That means the drivers aren't installed for the GPU. I don't understand what the issue is with this. You need to download the drivers and install them, or reinstall if you already have them. It's normal, and it is not a problem.
