Question about RAM

Hello there. I'm new to the forum and I want to ask a question about RAM.

I currently have a Corsair XMS3 model 4GB thas a Dual channel (2x2) Corsair says its 1600 MHz but at my bios its saying 1333 MHz. When I try to change it it also changes the Latecy settings from 9s to 10s

Is that normal or should i Manually se the speed and the timings?

Also I want to add 4 more gigs of RAM to my pc and my mobo has 1 more dual channel space. Should I go with the same brand and type of RAM or can I put another brand? Or better get a dual channel 2x4?

Set it to XMp or manually put the timing in and I you only have 1 stick buy one more and no more and make sure it the same to avoid issues

If you are running Intel, then go and enable the X.M.P profile. That should set all your speeds and timings correctly.

Some amd boards supports xmp as mine did
