Complex audio sequences leveling?

Yeah, I don't really know how to word this.

 

Basically, I'd noticed recently while listening to music that as multiple tracks are going, or if there are vocals over a track, that one or the other will decrease in volume.

My question was essentially: Is there anything that can be done about this?

 

I'm not sure if my headphones just aren't the greatest for listening, or if it's like a sound design thing, or a mechanical restriction of the physical driver.

I mean, the usual check all 'enhancement' are disabled, and play the same song from different devices to see if it's restricted to just your computer, but that just sounds like a really badly mixed song. Can you give an example of what you're listening to?

Is this with all music or just some tracks? The recc above about turning off enhancements is good.
