So lets me start. I want to install windows 10 on a hdd. The motherboard is an Asus P7P55D Deluxe. I know from experience that that board has problems when it comes to first time setup but I don't know how to fix it again. USB booting does not work on that motherboard, I have burned a DVD with the windows install which seems to be installed correctly however I have not been able to confirm. I have tested with 2 different DVD readers (one is IDE and second is Sata). Both times the mobo said "Please insert a boot device and click any key to continue" and so each time it would not boot. The hard drive already has the operating system installed and works fine on another computer however, this this pc it dosent work. The version of windows is 10 Pro. That pc has allready worked fine with an SSD and SSHD at the same time. Can anyone suggest any help?

Hi,

Have you entered the bios and ensured that DVD is the first in boot priority?

Oh yes sorry for missing that. I have prioritised the dvd drive, the hdd, I also clicked F8 to change boot device for that one time and still didnt work. I changed the type of the connection from IDE to AHCI aswell.

are you sure the DVD unit and the disk are actually OK? boot with them on a 2nd PC

I have tried with 2 different dvd drives. Both are seen by the bios. I have not 100% checked the DVD. I will try to boot another pc with it and see it there is a problem with that. But are there anyother causes if we ignore that for a sec?

the disk could've been created incorrectly

also, there are some rare occasions where a bootable disk made on one drive can't be read on another - it's rare, but it happens

Possibly. I burned it from a USB on a laptop. And also every now and then there was a USB disconnect sound so maybe that might be the cause. I will test the disc it self
