Hello all, question is as simple as it is.

I have some memory modules I would like to use, but they have conductive thermal compound on the PCB and trapped between parts making it impossible to rub off.

This seems like such a simple issue, but evades me. What do you all think would work?

Edit to add: I am aware I'm not a smart man for getting thermal paste on RAM, but it happened, any advice welcome, or feel free to tell me it's not worth it.

First off why is the thermal compound conductive???

Believe it's Arctic Silver 5 compound that got on the PCB at some point.

Arctic Silver 5 isn't conductive. You'll be fine.

Affected DIMM isn't recognized by the system. You suppose it should be some other issue then? (It was assumed working until this happened)

Clean them with 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a q-tip then

And I quote: "Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity."

So... When you were touching the RAM, were you legitimately grounded?
