I have an old 2.5" 5400RPM 250GB HDD that I pulled out of a dead Compaq Presario. I have been doing casual stuff on it and nothing seems bad at all. But my Z97-AR BIOS says that it is bad and needs to be replaced. I even ran this command in CMD as Admin

WMIC

DiskDrive Get Status

and it came back with "pred fail".

But Crystal Disk Info says its "GOOD".

And Passmark's Disk Checkup says it has 1 End-to-end error.

What's up with that?

Should I still not trust this drive?

This drive is a little old, 7000+ powered on hours (that's 0.8 years.) But the most worrying smart statistic is the "End to End Error" That statistic has failed, and it's an important one.

The "Cur" and "Wor" up top stand for "Current" and "Worst". "Thr" is "Threshold" So basically the threshold for that statistic is 97. The "Current" number counts DOWN, so if it is lower than 97, it's bad. It's at 1, so it's terrible.

The drive also has a few reallocated sectors, which are probably getting worse by the day.

@Captain_WD would know more.

Personally, I would stop using this drive immediately.

haha .8 years.. That really doesn't even make sense. Maybe it was a display at one point? Thanks for that. I wasn't really using it. Just hoping I could get some proper use out of it.
