Hello everyone! So my PC has been giving me bluescreens with this error "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" and it's been doing that more frequently (did it 2 times in a row like 10 mins ago). It mostly happens when I play Final Fantasy XIV where the game starts stuttering and few minutes later it freezes and gives me a blue screen. Here's a dump file

On Sat 1/14/2017 2:17:30 PM your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\011417-5109-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x14A6F0)
Bugcheck code: 0x133 (0x0, 0x501, 0x500, 0x0)
Error: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: The DPC watchdog detected a prolonged run time at an IRQL of DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This problem might also be caused because of overheating (thermal issue).
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 376.33 , NVIDIA Corporation).
Google query: NVIDIA Corporation DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

On Sat 1/14/2017 2:13:56 PM your computer crashed

Now it directs me to "nvlddmkm.sys" which is related to Nvidia so I used DDU in Safe Mode to wipe the drivers and re-installed them again and it still blue screens. I also tried various "fixes" like disabling fast start-up and updating drivers and installing Windows updates etc. Neither my CPU nor GPU are overheating and runs at 50-ish degrees and 70 degrees. I'm really lost at this point and don't know what to do ... :/

EDIT: I also noticed that it happens mostly when I'm alt-tabbed on Firefox playing YouTube videos.

nvidia drivers are very annoying. its a shame you reinstalled because we could have rolled your drivers back to one that was working. go to the nvidia driver download site and theres an option to download older & beta drivers. try use one before the december update

try reinstalling the drivers again but this time do a custom install and don't install the nvidia audio drivers

Currently I'm saving my files and re-installing Windows again. Is there a chance that my GPU is failing?

It really sucks ... ever since I went with Nvidia I kept running into issues like low fps (which I fixed by disabling the windowed G-Sync option and choosing Fullscreen only) and now this

it will either be a windows or nvidia driver update that broke. what is your card and windows version (update version). and edition of windows?

Windows 10 Pro Build 14393.693 , latest Nvidia drivers 376.33 (also tried .48 hotfix and still gives same errors).

I'm using Media creation tool to re-install Windows at the moment. I don't understand, isn't the latest thing always the best?

Is it common though? I'm more concerned about hardware failures.

Iv had a lot more problems with printers than GPU. Iv haven't had an intel driver fail on me yet. There was a blog post from an Nvidia developer critiquing game developers who arent following their API but I can't seem to find it, it was really good insight into why their drivers suck. They seem to issue major updates every time a big AAA game is released

I just re-installed Windows and installed the "stable" update the one I was on before I updated (372.90) and so far no BSOD's ... I really hope it's not a GPU issue else I'll have to buy a GTX 1080 or something and ruin my CPU upgrade plans >_>
