ok. my pc started randomly timing out on every website. steam goes offline. windows still tells me the internet works.

ok, you might think its a dns issue.

nope

/flushdns?

nope

does it only happen on your computer?

sometimes. before no

now yes

we usually have 2 computers connected to the internet constantly, (ethernet)

one of the computers have had viruses (like a lot like my brother clicks the WATCH AVENGERS ONLINE FOR FREE JUST RUN THE .EXE AND GIVE US ADMIN PRIVILEGES AND WE WILL LET YOU BEHOLD THE AVENGERS INSIDE

anyway,

our router never had wifi enabled

until it got slow.

so i called our internet company and they said we were using all of our bandwidth. so much bandwidth that my websites were timing out. even google.

ok, so i unplug all my LAN cables besides the yellow internet-in and power cable.

nope.

still max bandwidth.

What? i thought the wifi was off? so i ask the internet dude what is using it all. looks like something is constantly using bandwidth over wifi with MediaFire. once again, both my pcs were not wifi-compatible

so its a phone?

i thought hey

i could just access the router and turn off the wifi!

nope

im locked out

ok, i will just reset it to factory settings.

i held the reset button, looked at the default ipv4 thing and went to the login screen to type in the default password.

NOPE

i think something hijacked our router

could it hide in the firmware? what could i do?

i need to access the router

need to access the router

must access the router

must access router

access router

nope.

thanks for your guys' help, i always come back here for help and never am disappointing.

Try unplugging the router, holding down the reset button, and plug the router in with the button held down.

lets give it a try.

if this doesnt work i think something is logging in with the default password and changing it faster than i can.

or the firmware changed the default password

A virus would be my last guess. The chance is very low. Is this an isp provided gateway?

So.... uh... disconnect the source line as to only have it act as a router and not a gateway to the WAN?

Only have one PC connected to it that you know isn't connected?

Highly possible that whatever ISP you have put their own username and password on it. Ask them.
