Hi there,

need your help with a problem ive got. I "showed off" the rig i built for my brother in this post (just srcoll up a bit i just used a link to one of the comments in my user activity tab ) the pc worked find and all that, but yesterday my brother tried to start him up and the pc always runs into a "boot" cycle. boot in quotation marks because it isnt even a real boot. You press the powaaaaaaaa-button, the load-led´s on the mobo glow for around a second, the fans try to start spinning, then the fans stop, the led´s go out and from this point on it repeads endlessly trying to start up. Took out all the internals out of the case looking for short curcuit caused by dust or something like that - found nothing. Then i started taking out peripaherals, as example the gpu, one at the time and trying to start up, elimoinating as much variables as i can. Even if i take out the ram, which you usually need for a doa-test out of the box while building a new pc made no difference and the problem still occured. Those, who read my old post by now on( for those who did not not bad xD ) will probably say, the psu is causing the problem because its from a relativly small brand and doesnt have an 80+ bronze seal. well, i took my pc, connected it to the psu of my brothers pc and it works just fine. So im no down to the cpu or the mobo. I neither have another lga 775 cpu nor a lga 775 mobo flying around to verify what is causing the problem and no component out of these two show any significant, viewable damage. My personal guess is that it is the mobo which is dead, despite im still able to load my phone to a usb connector when the psu is attached, because the owner of the motherboard, before i bought it, had the screws at the cpu cooler very thight and the mobo is now slightly bend around the cpus location. Also i think that the time intervall these launch-kinda thing needs, as already said maybe only 1.5 secs, its just not possible for a problem within the cpu to show itself. I had the cpu overclocked, as said in the old post and maybe im wrong and the cpu is dead, maybe just both things are broken. I wasnt sure if i could use a test with just the mobo and no cpu on it as a validation, because i dont know how i mobo would normally behave in such a situation.

I appreciate all help you can give me and i hope you have a nice day :)

Formatting your post would help a ton.

First, list your system specs, press enter 2-3 times afterwards.

Mobo-

PSU-

OS-

CPU-

GPU-

Etc...

Now here you can start to list the steps you've already tried in good detail. Such as

Do you take ALL of the RAM out?  Or are you only leaving one RAM in the slot and rotating different sticks through?

This information will help the LTT community in attempting to solve your PC issues. Thanks!

All of the ram went out and it still reapeads this launch-cycles i call them by now, so i thought it can be neither one out of the two ram sticks that are in the rig

Give us the specs, also did you try unplugging all the cables except the power cord and see if it boots? could be a grounding issue with any of the periphirals even the monitor.

If its ASUS, they usually have a flashback feature, and you can put the bios file on a USB stick

You even spelled practice wrong ;) hahaaa

That being said...

Definitely try the wires.
Make sure your motherboard is hooked up correctly.
Then try to see if the ram is working (use one stick, test all the slots, then use another stick, repeat for all)

Make sure your power buttons are plugged in the right slots in the motherboard, (power is in power, led is in led, shutdown is in shutdown, it's easy to mess that up)

gigabyte got that too, its called q-flash but without the mobo booting into the bios you cant just stick the usb stick in and tell the mobo to update its bios from the usb, you need to confirm this update in the bios and until now its not possible to reach the bios on this mobo

(the irony :)) you got me with that one i changed it to "practice" looked it up because i was sure about it beeing written "practise" and it is because in my reply its used as the verb "practise", not the nomen "practice" :P gotcha

i dont even use the wires of the case anymore to eliminate them as a variable, i just use a copper wire to start the system(just touch the power switch pins on the mobo as long as you would press the power button with a copper wire and thats the exact same thing the power button does, but just in the ghetto way xD )

But you have tried to unplug, mouse, keyboard monitor etc? One time my father's comuter went completely dead, no reaction at all when trying to boot, and it was all because the monitor had a problem with it's grounding, we marely disconnected the DVI cable at boom, it booted no problem at all.

hahaha It's actually a step further than you think. Practice is always spelled practice in America. ;)

and klol on your copper wire, yeah I used an old front case to connect before I bought my real case, the mobo just laid on a table and the only thing I had hooked up was the on button...

First time I heard about a monitor problem, worth a shot I guess, please let us know when you solve this!
