White gaming PC - high end, looks are important

Well if he went for the i5 + the AiO i picked he would be able to possibly overclock it more or get better temps, also he would get the superior looks he keeps dreaming about. Personally I might would have went for the i7, probably saved up a bit more, but I have to respect what is important for him and I know he would not really like a giant black thing in his PC overshadowing everything else, I can understand that.

IDK, at that budget, the i7 is worth the investment.  The way he intends to use the PC might not be the way he ends up using the PC six months down the road.  Content creation (video, music, 3D modelling) and game streaming can both benefit greatly from the extra threads.

Instead of wasting $75 on case fans, get the i7.

Yeah I get you, but the most important thing is how much joy and satisfaction will the build bring you and that's subjective. I could build him a more powerful PC with the i7 if I picked some random black windowless case, put parts that don't look good at all in there cause it doesn't matter so he can just tuck it under his desk and forget about it but that's not what he desires.

All I can do I is send it to him, which I did and I explained him in what ways it can be better and he said he would rather risk not having the benefits of the i7 so he can have the pretty stuff if it won't hinder the performance in games.

Just buy a Kaby Lake processor with a Z270 board, you will feel the sh*t end of the stick when you can't take advantage of optane with Kaby Lake, and also wouldn't be able to upgrade without taking everything out of your neat build and reinstalling. Also, with a Z170 board, you need a Skylake chip to boot it up, and update the bios.

So just go with Kaby Lake, the prices are the same anyway.

Thanks, I already updated the build with the Asus Prime Z270-A.
