How do you setup your own servers for games like gmod without having a physical server?

You can rent servers from companies, you can use a spare PC (though how well it does depends on the server it will be running and the PC hardware) or you could even run the server on the same PC you play on. 

 

Out of those, renting a server will likely yield the best results as it will often have server grade components, as well as a better upload speed than most home networks. It also means you can manage the server as long as you have an internet connection and you don't have to worry about replacing hardware if something dies.

You can download steam cmd to make a gmod server on ur personal pc if u do not plan on running it 24/7.

you can run it on your pc if your pc can handle it you just have to know what port to forward in your router and make sure there is a firewall exception in windows.
