I just got my gsync monitor and it was easier to setup than i expected. I enabled gsync in Nvidia's control panel, and in every game i disable V-sync and that's all, but i don't know if Gsync is really working or not. I guess it is, because the game feels smoother than usual. And when does gsync stop working? What happens if my framerate goes beyond my monitor's refresh rate? Should i lock my FPS to 144hz in game, or set it to unlimited?

Out of all my experiences with Gsync which is a lot. I never once had to cap my fps. All the monitors that had gsync, when gsync was enabled it wouldn't let the fps go beyond the hz rating of the monitor. I had vsync turned off in game and in the control panel as well. Also if you have gsync enabled its always working and doesnt need to kick in. (vtec kicked in yo! sorry couldnt resist)

Ok, so what i understood is, Gsync works at all times UNLESS my FPS goes beyond 144hz. In that case, Vsync kicks in to prevent screen tearing. AFAIK, screen tearing is unnoticeable in such high framerates, so i'll just disable Vsync in NVCP and in every game, and let Gsync do it's work. And how do i cap my framerate at 142 fps? Not every game has that option.

(PD: If i overclock the xb271hu to 165hz, my framerates would need to go beyond 165hz to stop gsync?)

When you have gsync enabled it won't let the fps go higher the the refresh rate of the monitor. If you OC your monitor you won't need to uncap your fps because the only cap to fps is the refresh rate that the monitor is set to in the control panel and in game. (Though not all games have a Hz setting)
