Hello LTT Community!

I need a couple things answered:

1.What size is this motherboard?: https://www.walmart.com/ip/MB-GCC0P-001-Gateway-Intel-Desktop-Motherboard-DX4860-s1156-IPISB-VR-Rev-1-01/122465862?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=658&adid=22222222227062519865&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=169741522542&wl4=pla-276872947658&wl5=9011961&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=112354465&wl11=online&wl12=122465862&wl13=&veh=sem

2.I'm upgrading my PC and I'm in the market for a CPU and Motherboard.

I need to know which is better for gaming, an   Intel Xeon E5620  or an i5 2320.

And if you know any other good budjet CPU's please let me know and motherboard compatible with them.

Also, good motherboards that can fin a GTX 950.

Thank you.

that's a micro ATX size board

the xeon is close if overclocked...the i5-2320 is better if at stock...i would probably go with the xeon

i would get a H170 board with an i5-6500 for a GTX 950 if buying new...otherwise that xeon if it is supported by your current board will be good.

1. Micro ATX

2. About the same but I recommend using a newer one anyway.

3. Wait a few days for any 7th generation Kaby Lake CPU, i3's and some i5's don't cost much. use any H270, B250, Q250, or Q270 chipset motherboard.

4. Basically every motherboard can fit any graphics card, just make sure it has one of the longer PCI slots. I haven't seen a motherboard without one, but I'm sure they exist, so be mindful?

1. Thank you.

2. That's the motherboard I already have, I need to find one that fits my case, that's just the link i found, not buying from walmart.

My current rig is a Gateway dx4860, upgraded with a 510w PSU and a GTX Nvidia 950, also equipped with a Samsung 850 evo.

What i'm doing is im going to upgrade my pc and use the leftover parts to build my little brother his own rig (he just needs it for Minecraft and Roblox)

I play games like CSGO, ES V: Skyrim Special Edition, Watch_Dogs 2, Rocket Leauge, etc...

I plan on keeping the case, so will the h170 fin in  a dx4860 case?

I want to stary at around $300, not too much over that.

Any motherboard will fit in that case as long as it is classified as Micro ATX.

For the upgrade, an Intel Core i3 6300 and that ASrock motherboard you just listed, or wait a few days for the new Intel processors to arrive.

That motherboard will fir. it is not a laptop part, though. the M just means "micro ATX", which is the motherboard size.

Alright thank you guys. But an i3? I don't know much about processors, but in this techquickie video, Linus explains that an i3 is for "light tasks" Is that the case here?

i3 vs i5 make like 5% difference max in game. My i3/gtx1060 system runs as fast in games as an i5/gtx1060 system. For tasks like image/video editing, it will make a sizeable difference.

If you use programs like that then you'll have to spend a bit more on a Core i5-6500 or higher, which costs $205 on newegg. Along with that $75 motherboard it will stay under your budget. It will also leave you with room to upgrade to a Core i5-6600 or 6700 in the future.

Awesome. Also, do you recommend a cheap, Micro ATX Case? I decided I'm going to keep my current case but I still need a Micro ATX case for my brother's build.

here you go, just choose the one that you think your brother would most like to see on his desk:

Cooler Master N200 ($50)

Thermaltake Core V21 ($65)

Fractal Design Core 1100 ($35)

APEVIA X-QPAC3-CL ($60)

*All prices from Newegg

**Some cases available in multiple colors

Sorry for the different sized images, but I hope you'll make your brother happy. Have fun!
