The laptop model is an ASUS K501LX. So this morning, i went to use my laptop because my phone battery has died and when i went to open my laptop, i heard a cracking noise. I opened it a little bit to see the hinge finisher has come lose on the right hand side. The display is okay, 99.9% perfect. The computer is still functional. I opened the back of the laptop to see the hinge broken off.

I contacted ASUS Live Chat only for them to tell me the estimated repair cost is $510USD(WTF!!!). And since my laptop is out of warranty by 4-5 months, I'll have to pay for it to be repaired. As well as, since I'm out of the united states, I'll have to pay for shipping. And no i cannot afford another laptop or to pay to have it shipped.

As you can see, I'm left with 4 options:-

1) to send it to them to get an actual quote and for it to be sent back to me unrepaired

2) to send it to them, let they repair it and pay the equivalent of a new laptop

3) to use plastic weld or something of the sort to fix it

Any help/assistance will be appreciated. As of now, RIP Laptop September 2015-January 2017
