The US and European models have different bands.

Anyway, do you have a connection that doesn't work or do you not have any connection at all?

I actually fixed it. In France you get free 2G and I was trying to connect to 4G. Had to change my settings to 2/3G

Probably a sim/network issue, call your provider and they might be able to help.

Call t-mobile

Forgot to add I did call them and they ran me through some troubleshooting and then basically told me we don't know. I also have the little R under my signal as if I were roaming. Could it just be weak signal?

Call them again I don't think there's much we can do without you wasting your whole vacation

Maybe you don't have the bands used by the network in France.

They sell them directly in France so I doubt it.

Do you have the same global/Europe version?

The APN should be same as your home network.

Make sure data roaming is enabled in settings. Do you get 3G or 4G signal (you can confirm that in About Phone somewhere)?

That R indicates, that you are roaming - meaning you are in different network than your home network.
