I have 2 questions about the forum

1) how do I embed images?

And

2) how do I have lots of posts for a build log in a row (Like this: http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/the-workbench/build-logs/91956-build-log-phenomenon-switch-810-pedestal)

The best way currently is to host the image externally using say Imgur.com and then use the BB IMG codes: and.

To answer your second question; simply reply to your thread.

Yeah but people have them in a row from the next day, is it a way to lock the thread or something to make it so no one can post on it?

Maybe if you post someting saying that it will be edited latter for updates ? Sure you may lack off post sometimes but it's better than nothing...

that guy posted multiple days work prior to the 13th all within minutes.so nobody had time to see his post and comment on it yet.

1st post

13th February 2013, 06:57 PM

2nd post

13th February 2013, 07:07 PM

3rd post

13th February 2013, 07:10 PM

4th post

13th February 2013, 07:11 PM

5th post

13th February 2013, 07:13 PM

6th post

13th February 2013, 07:14 PM

7th post

13th February 2013, 07:15 PM

8th post

13th February 2013, 07:16 PM

9th post

13th February 2013, 07:17 PM

then notice after the 9th post, which was titled "February 13th 2013" that there were multiple comments.

the reason for this is he probably posted it on another website first,or he had the content ready prior to this, then he posted it altogether at the same time.

it's not like it's a secret or something, theres just no way to "lock" a thread like that,or atleast not one that is available to regular users.maybe a moderator could "lock" a thread by simply closing it,and making the title say "[CLOSED]" then re-open the thread for you when your ready to add content, and re-close it right afterward.

as you may have noticed above, even if it were possible you'd need a moderator to be at a moments notice so that nobody could comment in the time that it was opened for you to post your content.it would be tedious, stressful for moderators considering how many people would want to do it,and in conclusion simply unrealistic.

I would suggest putting in the title simply

"[please do not comment yet]name of your build"

then explain why in the first line of the post,so that people understand why.

or you could do as that guy did and prepare the content prior.

simply write everything up in notepad, including the photos with the p><p> [img] <a href=http://i.imgur.com/PicOfFittings.jpg ' alt='a> '> (no spaces between a> (no spaces between %7Boption%7D and the direct url to image)

"

and end the post there.

then reply to it and start the next date which you saved in notepad
