Need help finding CPU cooler

Go to solution Solved by Glennieboyyy007,

cooler master hyper 212x is always a good option (most people have this one). or the scythe ninja 4 (i have the ninja 2 rev.b for my core 2 duo E8400 and with gaming always under the 50C)

Hello,

I am looking for a new air cooler for my old school rig. It's running a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU w/stock cooler on the Dell Inc. 0M017G mainboard. The stock fan is really noisy, I am getting crazy temps, etc. I think it's time the thermal paste and fan are replaced. This will be the first time I will be removing thermal paste/CPU cooler. I am confident in my ability to do this, but I REALLY need help picking out a cooler as I have no clue where to begin.

Is there anyone who can suggest a suitable CPU fan? I'm also looking for a case fan, but I will probably be able to sort that one out myself. I have no idea what case I'm using so, yeah.

I just switched out my qx 9650 system (so glad I did) and I was cooling that with a Cooler Master Hyper T2. Really solid 93 mm cooler. Quiet, and effective. CPU chilled in the 35-40 degree Celsius range, and under load it never hit 60, not overclocked.

Edit: FYI the 9650 is the same chip set as the q6600.

Thanks for the heads up man, but I can't find any of those coolers here in Australia.
I did however find the CPU cooler Glennie pointed me towards, so I am going to buy it right now, along with thermal paste and some isopropyl alcohol. Thanks for the help guys, I am a super happy birthday boy right now :-)
