This has probably been asked a thousand times, but I'm gonna make it a thousand and one.

I'm looking at swapping out my 500gb Samsung 5400RPM laptop drive with an SSD of a similar specification.

I've narrowed my choice down to 3 drives and I'm interested in your thoughts on the matter.

SSD 1: Sandisk Ultra II 480GB available for around $160AUD

SSD 2: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB available for around $220 AUD

SSD 3 (a bit of a wildcard): Crucial MX300 525GB for around $160AUD

I'm interested in the Samsung drive, however, when compared to the Crucial or the Sandisk, I'm not sure if the extra $60 makes it worth it, given it'll only really be used for typical laptop tasks plus some photoshop (CS2)

Regards,

Zipp

First were they always so expensive? I probs always looked at the 250 ones. The evo is the best ofc but MX300 wouldnt be bad cas more storage and cheaper

Ikr. Those US always complain bout their $20usd but we hv to pay like $50aud over that 20usd

I can remember a few years back when the Herald Sun (?) published a story showing it was cheaper to fly to the USA, purchase certain software/computer parts and fly back to Australia than it was to buy locally.

I guess that's why Newegg send stupid shipping prices for Australia

I'd totally go with the Crucial MX300 here. Have only seen good reviews of it, it might not be the fastest but really, honestly, it's an ssd, you won't miss the milliseconds of load time over those 60 bucks

Thanks for the help! I think I might go down the Crucial road.
