I am having trouble getting my bluetooth controller to work on my new computer. I recently got a new rig and am having issues pairing with the bluetooth. After about a minute of searching the first image comes up with a generic name for the controller. After another minute of attempting to pair (with no progress bar showing) I get the second image showing up as an error. I have spent hours browsing the web trying to find solutions to the problem but none of the solutions seem to be working for me. I cannot get any bluetooth device to pair with my desktop, but I am able to pair the devices with my laptop or mobile phone. The problem seems to be isolated to my desktop. I have tried installing older drivers or generic drivers to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I have tried this, and many other common solutions found on the internet. Such as uninstalling and reinstalling bluetooth drivers or restarting and confirming the bluetooth service is running

Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Bluetooth 4.1 with the latest 10.0.0.260 drivers. Steelseries Stratus XL is the controller, with the latest firmware. It pairs perfectly with my phone and laptop (and actually shows the proper name on said devices, instead of a generic name on my desktop pc).

Gonna guess you are trying to pair an xbox controller? If you are, did you press the button on the controller that pairs it to your pc?

It is a Steelseries Stratus XL. So yeah basically an xbox controller. I have pressed the pair button, I have also press and held the pair button for 5 seconds to reset pairing.

  • 3 weeks later...

I know it has been a while but I just wanted to comment on my thread that I did find a solution to this. I did not want this to be a dead-end to anyone else who is googling for hte problem. I was able to fix the bluetooth controller by powering down my PC and killing the power to the power supply. It seems the bluetooth controller remains active on the board even when the bluetooth and wifi was disabled through bios and the comptuer was powered down normally. But by shutting of the switch to the power supply and lettings the caps discharge I was able to properly reset the controller.

tl;dr

Turn off computer.

Switch your power supply off.

Attempt to power your computer on so that it quickly drains the residual power.

Wait a few minutes

Reboot

I know this thread is old but thank you so much for providing a solution @urawizardhary. I found around 5 people with this very problem on the internet and they never came back with a solution and I just kept hitting dead ends for two weeks straight, so I would just like to let you know that someone out there appreciates what you have done, thank you again.
