Hi, my gpu only has a dvi and a dp port as the hdmi port was damaged. im running 2 monitors. one with a dvi to vga adapter and one with a dp to hdmi. I want to be able to hook up my tv to my pc to watch online tv but i dont have a spare port on my gpu. So i just presumed i could get a hdmi y splitter. I want what is on my pc screen also on my tv. But i looked around on ebay and they all seem to say you can only have one displayed output at a time unless both displays are the same resolution and model basically. Both my tv and monitor are 1080p but i presume refresh rates and stuff are gonna mess it up. Anyone have any ideas if what im looking at will work or if there is any other way. I know i could just unplug one of my monitors but i want to be able to just click on a tv program and turn on my tv, i dont want to have to pull out my pc every time. Thanks

260x, i dont think that matters does it?

just checking. You have 2 options... 1. get a Y spitter cable and the 2 outputs will display at the lowest resolution of the 2 monitors/TVs

i.e 1 1080 display and 1 720p display. Both displays will get a signal from the HDMI cable of 720p.

2. Get a Y spitter cable and a downscaler. put the downscaler in between the low res display and the Y spitter and it will trick your y spitter into thinking the low res monitor is 1080p https://sewelldirect.com/hdmi-to-hdmi-4kx2k-scaler-converter-

Ok thanks. ive found y splitters on ebay for really cheap. Both my displays are 1080p so i think a simply y splitter like this should work. Thanks again

as you can see at the bottom of the description it says this.

"Only 1 output device should be active at any time unless either the 2 display devices share the same size and model."
