Quick question: What are the pros and cons of SMB and FTP, and if possible, provide some example ideal use cases. I wanted to know since I'm setting up a home server, I just want to know which system to stick to. Thanks!

What are you looking to do with the home server? Host files from machines that you can open up from the server or transfer the files locally to the machine, edit them, and then push them back up to the server?

Well, it's more for streaming, but it might be used for editing purposes, yes.
