Xbox One "Failed to send message" error

Recently got an Xbox One as I already have a PC gaming rig but wanted to play with mates, I can do everything fine like join a party and such but cannot send messages to people, when I try to it will pop up with: "Failed to send message". My account is brand new and Xbox say it is in good standing.
