Phantom Power

Hi,

 

I recently got a condenser microphone that I would like to use with my PC. It requires 48v of Phantom Power and I was just wondering if I can hook up the 48v power supply straight to my PC or do I need a whole audio mixer (somebody told me that connecting the phantom power output to a PC is not a good idea for some reason, they never told me). I am new to the subject of condenser microphones. Thanks!

A quality interface would likely yield better results and reliability.
