Worth the Upgrade?

Triventular

so as the title says...

Is it worth it for my case to upgrade my gpu?

I have an old Galaxy gtx 560 non ti. For me, this card delivers most of the gaming I want given that I lower my setting to med-low. I'm still quite satisfied with this but the only problem I have is that the temps reach 100 degrees Celsius... and I think its a bit too high for me to just let it slip by. I looked it up and it says its "normal" for any 5 series to reach that high.. I even went to change the thermal paste on it and it didn't help much cuz it still reaches 100... another problem is that its too power hungry for my taste.. it needs 2 6-pin connectors to power.

Now, I'm looking for a new gpu that delivers more than what my gtx 560 can while being cool and power efficient at the same time at the budget of $150. I'm not sure if I want both the rx 460 and gtx 1050 without seeing factual evidence that it delivers better than my 560 (lol i kinda have high regard for my 560) because I don't want to upgrade my gpu to another and still have the same kind of performance it delivers... Anyways, is it worth it to upgrade? oh and other suggestions are widely open :) thanks everyone

It is definitely worth the money. I would go for the GTX 1050Ti at that price point. I've heard great things about it, and plan to soon get one.

I also agree that it's worth it to go for a GTX 1050Ti.  Kyle at Bitwit did a good review on one as did Luke at LTT.  The card that they reviewed was the MSI GTX 1050Ti and it performed well along with good acoustics.

used market has some good deals on:

- 780Ti

- 970

- 980

take a look, since 780 Ti/980 is on par with 1060 with much more mature drivers.

idk

But also remember that with the 10 series, you're getting a new, not used card, and they have better features. Ansel, anyone?

there was a refurb 780Ti bnib up for sale for $179. that's on par with the 6gb 1060 but with a 3gb framebuffer, and while you don't get fancy features and lower power consumption (you still get shadowplay and gamestream) you get better performance (less in VR however)

idk

I'd still go for the newer, cheaper 1050Ti, although that's just personal preference.

I wouldn't compare the RX 460 to the GTX 1050. I don't feel as if they're in the same league as each other.

I would recommend an RX 470 4GB :) if you can stretch your budget a little (MSRP is like $180)
