Purchase help,

So I have been reading posts in the sub forum for the past few hours. I am looking for a laptop for gaming. I do not play any AAA titles, honestly most of the use will be for MMO's such as World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Final Fantasy ect. RPG's are my thing. Skyrim I guess would be the hardest on the computer.

I don't have many specifics that I am hard set on. 17" screen a must,  prefer newer intel chipset. I would like a SSD,,, and that's about it.

After reading a bunch on hear I am not any closer to a decision then I was 3 hours ago... Marbe worse.   I kinda like Clevo's but I don't know much about them and people either love or hate them. I like MSI's but again no clear cut goods or bads.

Im priced out max at 1250 give or take, 1300 wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I'd say the Clevo P670RP6 is a must. Low-end MSI options like the GP and GE have gotten better but are still subpar to Clevo's offerings.

OK, I like that model, After all the addon I wanted, it came out to 1647$.  That was with adding 16gb of ram, I switched the hard drive to one 500GB Samsung 850 EVO Series SSD for OS and games, and one  1TB 7200RPM [SATA II - 3GB/s]  for storage, switched the wireless chip to Killer™ Dual Band AC 1535 802.11 A/AC/B/G/N + Bluetooth Module [M.2 Chip], added them installing windows 10 home edition,

I was thinking of adding 2 M.2 SSD's but I am not sure if you can boot an OS off of them, does anyone know?

That's again, and if there is a better option now that we are in the 1700$ range please let me know...

I am going to be making the final call and ordering end of the month, I play WoW but I am brancing out, I started playing ARK and that game is wicked hard on the CPU and beats on the GPU like its mad at it.

Yes you can. The computer will detect it as 2 separate drives, unless you have set up a RAID array with the 2 drives.

Ok, Good to know, Ill be adding the 2 M.2's either way, not sure If I would run them RAID 0 or 2 seperates. I would be loading the OS and games that I play on them, The rest of the media I needed on a regular 7200 HDD.   Now I am at a rough spot, I am slowly justifiy to myself the right thing is to invest higher for the longjevity of the laptop. I play low demand games like WoW, and FFXIV. but now I am falling in love with Ark which is stupidly high demand. And to be honest I am sick of playing everything at medium or lower settings. so I found 2 more laptops,

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8173s-clevo-p670rs.html    This one has a Intel® Skylake i7-6700HQ and an 8GB GTX 1070,

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9872s-clevo-p870dm2.html  this one has a Intel® Skylake i7-6700K and the same 8GB GTX 1070.

Whish one would you guys go for? Is it worth the additional funds?    Now that I am getting into this price range should I be looking at something else?

I am just trying not to get buyers remorse after getting something like this. Desktop are easy for me, I build them the way I want, even if I have to wait. This research is killing me..

Thanks Again for any input.

If you have the money and don't mind the extra heft, I would say go for the NP9872. You can still upgrade this one down the road if you so desire as the GPU and CPU are both socketed and can be changed out. And you also get a desktop CPU with this one, much much more powerful than the 6700HQ in the other one. But if you actually need mobility, I would say go for one of the 15 inch models, as they are easier to carry around.

I prefer the 17" models of anything, I would go larger if they had it lol.  With the NP9872 that is already the Desktop i7 6700k isn't it?  Also is the NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX 1070 [8GB] different then what I would be buying when I build a desktop?

Yes it has the desktop 6700K. The GTX 1070 in that should be around I'd say about 80-90% the performance of the full-sized desktop GTX 1070.

Thank you Exercutor5, So I think I am going to go for the Sager NP9872-S (Clevo P870DM2)

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9872s-clevo-p870dm2.html

-I am going to add a second M.2 SSD 256GB.  I doubt I would run them RAID0, I am more thinking to run the OS and any games I play off them. Do you think that's worth it?

Add on's in question,, The Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD 256 is the lesser option then the Intel 600P NVMe M.2 SSD 250gb right?

-Better to get the Windows 10 pro edition then the home right?

-They offer  Redline Boost My Operating System (Operating System Required) (XPC Service - requires shipment to XOTIC PC) what is that?

-16gb of ram should be enough right?

-Intel® Dual Band AC 8260 802.11 A/AC/B/G/N 2.4/5.0GHz + Bluetooth™ 4.0 [M.2 Chip](SKU: SGR6876)Which wireless is better? Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Dual Band Wireless-AC N1535 [M.2 Chip] + Bluetooth 4.1 - Default   or    Intel® Dual Band AC 8260 802.11 A/AC/B/G/N 2.4/5.0GHz + Bluetooth™ 4.0 [M.2 Chip](SKU: SGR6876)?

I think this will be my final choice, I like everything about it, Has a 120hz screen FHD.  (which is better the IPS right? )

If everything works out ill be ordering this in the next week or so.

If there is an SSD already in the system, the manufacturer would install the OS on it. So if you add another SSD, it would just be empty. I wouldn't know how worth can it be if you add another SSD, because it all depends on your use-case.

The 850 EVO is a SATA 3 SSD, the 600P is a PCIe NVMe SSD, both offer different speeds and use different standards, but use the same connector.

Depends. I would say if you don't use the extra features in the Pro edition, the Home would suffice.

Not really sure

If just for games, it would be sufficient.

Not really sure about this one, some say the Killer ones are shit, some say the Intel ones perform worse, and I don't know which is true, but my Killer 1525 AC has never failed me, so I think it's all about personal preference?????
