Quote people so they know

VR capable card is jsut advertising. Even though 480 and 1060 both can do VR they can also do 1080p smoothly too

You can have VR card to play non VR game. A 480 and 1060 does everything smoothly

I would like to ask for help about building a pc that is capable of 1080p gaming and crushing the latest and future games maybe. I would like a black and red aesthetic for the build and have a gtx 10 series card inside and I really like the NZXT S340 red case. Thanks for the help. :D

Got it :)

Why not 10 series gtx? This boatd can xf for extra 480 in the future and 480 is on the same level with 1060 now. Also a freesync monitor with amd is amazing as most gsync monitor are too costy

Good eye. I meant 'Extend by $100'.

Non-K would be adequate, but this improves resale value, longevity, and of course; performance. Also, the cheapest nice-looking non-overclocking red board is the ASRock H170 Performance, which is just $13 cheaper. The red LED cooler is there primarily for the aesthetic. If I was already spending $100 on a motherboard and getting a good enough cooler to overclock a 6600k, I thought that I might as well get a Z170 motherboard and a 6600k.

I could always cull the budget by getting the 4GB Gaming X, dropping the SSD, and getting a cheaper black-and-red case, but I thought OP should see what $100 more will get him. Also, if he buys his CPU and Motherboard from MicroCenter, the cost of this build is $60 less.

id get regular black board if cheaper as after all, the only thing red in that board are mainly slots that would be later occupied by ram and gpu

Damn did not know msi 480 8gb was cheaper and with a freesync would be nice

Microcenter is really nice if op can do it. Not for us canadians :(

Huh. Fair point.

Wait. the ASRock B150 board you have looks identical to the H170 board I mentioned, and it's cheap. Damn.

On second thought, I'm just going to leave my build there because of the cooler. I still think that if OP wants the cooler, it's a waste to stick with a non-K CPU. A Hyper 212 LED cooler won't pull its weight on a Core i5 6500.

Thats a good board, but if you find the Hyper you can even overclock the NonK cpu!

'Find the Hyper'? Not sure what that's supposed to mean, but you can't overclock anything without a Z170 motherboard and a K-CPU.

You used to be able to overclock non-K CPUs on Z170 motherboards throuch base-clock overclocking using a glitch, but Intel shut that down through BIOS updates and possibly Windows Update. You'll be forced to run an older BIOS and possibly an older version of Windows, which will result in instability issues. You'll be exempt from all the improvements, fixes, and new functionality that updates bring.
