Hey yall, planning on upgrading the PC in the near future but can't think about what to get. I bought a Corsair H100i v2 for my 6700 a while back. Price wouldn't matter too much, nothing like a GTX 1080, my 1060 is fine. But I guess like the motherboard, ram, ect.

My specs are

i7 6700

Asus H-170

ADATA Ram 16Gb 2133MHz

MSI Armour 1060

Corsair H100i v2

ADATA 120Gb ssd (boot)

WD blue 1Tb (almost filled)

power supply is unknown(ibuypower pc)

Any recommendations are useful,

Thanks!

For what reason are you looking to upgrade? Do you just have money to blow?

The reason would be moving forward to a theme build

What theme?

new case. You always build around the motherboard and case for a theme.

I like the case because its a tempered glass one. the only thing i dont like about it is that the red strip on the front cant be changed to a different color. the lighting strip in there is good.Image result for ibuypower 921

Then why do you want to upgrade? Everything looks pretty badass to me

I feel like i could be missing out on some features by not having a Z-170 board or not having a unlocked CPU, also the MB doesnt have any more fan headers. Also I kinda want a different power supply when i upgrade to 1080Ti or anything like that

Does your psu not have any markings or labels? If you're not sure what you're looking at, please post a photo.

If you're not even sure what features you're missing out on, it's probably not worth swapping out to unless you just have money to blow. For more fans, it'd be easier to get a fan hub or splitter.

Are your current parts going to go to another system or friend? If not, it seems like a waste to almost build a new system for the sake of doing it.

I haven't opened the bottom part of the case yet so I can't tell, all I know is that it's a non-modular. I do have a friend that could use the parts, he has a really low-end PC and he would benefit from the parts.

One of the reasons I didn't buy all the parts separately was because I couldn't afford it that way. (I bought it from Best Buy on my card there and I have no interest for 18 months and a big chunk will be paid off with my tax return) I bought it case i could afford it that and also to upgrade and build on to it, to turn into my original theme build in a way

What parts do you plan on keeping after the change?

Any parts I change out I would give them to my friend.

Yes but have you decided which parts suit the look you're going for yet? If not, that would be a good place to start.

really, the only things that would stay is the CPU. CPU cooler, GPU and storage

If your friend could use the parts, why not replace the cpu as well? It seems like a waste of a h100i without a 6700k--unless you mean to oc via bclk. Where are you shopping/located?

that seems logical, I don't think I've said this but this isn't going to be upgraded all at once, it'll be before I move to Alabama around beginning of Summer 2018(plenty of time).

Located in the Southern U.S. currently TN

That's.. a long time from now. If you're intent on not upgrading soon, I'd suggest planning later. Parts get better and cheaper with time and it won't make sense to choose parts now only to change your mind later.

I see where you're coming from, thank you for the advice and help.
