PC won't boot

I've been rebuilding my PC into the define R5 I got for xmas.

 

I did a test boot and it works fine, everything turns on, but there is no image shown through the onboard HDMI. So, I decided to add my GPU and see if I can get picture. My PC will not boot once I plug the GPU in to the power supply. What's going on? My PSU is an AX 750, mobo is a msi z97 gaming 5, and my gpu is a gigabyte windforce gtx 760

Hey guys I have some more stuff to add/elaborate on.

 

-Onboard graphics do not work

-The front panel connectors do not work plugged into the MoBo

-Only indication it works is that when I short it with just the CPU, RAM, and PSU the CPU fan turns on & the MoBo lights

-Stays on, but I can not get a display through onboard graphics

-If I connect my GPU to the PSU the computer turns off and will not turn back on

 

Sounds like a dead MoBo correct?

 

Geek Squad is $100 and MicroCenter is $40, but can't even work on it until Friday. I'm thinking of taking it to Best Buy to just have them look in it.

How I would go about it: Reset CMOS (never hurts), Remove all unnecessary parts, make sure you everything is properly connected, breadboard.

I'm just confused, it all works until I plug in the GPU...

Have you tried again without the GPU

Make sure everything is properly connected, maybe there's something shorting between your card and motherboard?

Works fine like this, but the onboard hdmi still doesn't work, all of the lights come on though

All I have is the 24pin, 8pin, and 6 + 8 for gpu. I'm turning it on by shorting it.

It works until the gpu

If you are using a old motherboard you might have to use onboard graphics then go into bios and set the GPU to external GPU or if you have a 32bit system make sure the card is not 64bit only
