Xbox account troubles

Hi guys 

 

I got an Xbox one s for Christmas and it's great but I have a problem

 

I set it up using my existing Microsoft account that I use on my pc (not knowing that it is not over 18 in age). I then proceeded and it asked me for a parent account and I couldn't go back so I put in another account that is over 18. I tried removing the child account from the parent and then changing the age of the child account but it still asks for a parent account. However I can't go on my pc apps anymore as they are restricted by

parent account. Is there a way I can rid the parent account as I'm theory the child account is set

to an age over 18 now??

If you made your account and used a DOB that would still currently be under 18 you cannot do anything even if you change your DOB now to over 18 in your account settings. The only way is to contact Microsoft and prove to them that you are over 18 for them to change your account. To solve your problem just make another account that is over 18 and use that as a parent account.

This happened to me and when talking to a Microsoft Rep that's what they told me(minus the making another account)

I have the other account but it interferes with my pc account not allowing me to use anything on it

On your 18+ account go to control panel and make your normal account admin

I will try that but I set up the pc with the child account

It is set to admin in control panel under account type but it comes up ask for permission when I try to open google chrome

Yep the same thing, it wouldent matter I would just make a new account but I have already redeemed the Xbox live and Fifa on it, ffs.

on the new account, in user settings make it so you're not part of the family

Update

 

i have now gone onto the parent account and removed the child from the family, I changed the date of birth on the child to make it even older, on the Xbox I deleted the parent account and turned it off prior to the removal of the child account

 

in theory it should work now, is it worth leaving the date of birth thing to update or should it do it instantly? IT EVEN SAYS IN THE FAMILY BIT ON MICROSOFT ADD A CHILD ON THE CHILD ACCOUNT

I just read on the Xbox FAQ if you remove a child account it has to join a different family, how can make it into an adult account?

You have to prove your an adult to Microsoft no way to do it yourself. Its kind of stupid that Microsoft do it like that
